Don’t Strain Yourself

OK.  A $2 strainer IS the best toy ever for a two-and-a-half year old and a baby.

They both had hours of fun.  Who knew!

Racing the Steam Engine

I loved the challenge of making the Easter weekend work on such a small budget.  It really let me be a creative problem solving kind of girl. I loved it. However, (and it seems that there is always a however…) I think my competitive streak is getting ahead of me.  Or at least my aura [...]

Easter Success

Look! It’s Tony and the girls looking for eggs! It’s pretty typical that everyone is looking in a different direction!
What a great weekend it has been!!!
The All Saints Lutheran Church First Annual Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt was a smashing success! The mistress of ceremonies, Mother Goose, couldn’t have been cuter or [...]

This Bag is not a Toy

At dinner last night, Saralyn discovered the joy of playing with a plastic bag.  Bambi brought some books from a the office book sale, and Saralyn fell in love with the sound of the crinkling plastic.  Eventually, tried to put it in her mouth, and we had to take it away from her, but she [...]

Eleanor is having a high time over there right now with her new whistle.  We practiced Easter Egg hunting today at playgroup.  Elly did very well.  She got 8 or so of the little eggs that were hidden covertly in plain sight.  One had a whistle.

Off the Charts

Saralyn visited the doctor’s office today for her 4 month well baby visit.  Here’s the stats:

16 1/2 inches around her head.
In terms of percentiles for the height and weight she’s between the 110th and 115th.  Her head size is in the 75th.  Clinically speaking, she’s freakin’ HUGE!
But she’s [...]

Sorry, Trish.  Perhaps you should stop reading now.
For the rest of you, I’m having some Easter Egg Hunt anxiety.  I have been working for many weeks now on getting the Church’s Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt launched, or should I say hatched?  We are transitioning the event from a member centered, between-the-services happening, to a [...]

Egg-strava-whatever

It’s a tradition. Dying Easter Eggs. I had a good time. Eleanor wouldn’t participate, but eventually got curious about all the dipping.
I had a fine time playing with some new dying techniques. This is my Blue Cross egg. I used some rubber bands and homemade dye. [...]

Coq au Vin

Ahh… My kitchen is clean, and I am feeling my sip of Pinot Evil.  I bought two bottles of the Pinot to make the Coq au Vin – ala Alton Brown + my own variants.  It’s in the oven now, and my kitchen is clean-ish, and the dishes are even washing.  The babies are confined [...]

Eleanor and Saralyn are growing like nuclear weeds on steroids. I think they are beginning a simultaneous growth spurt this week. All the signs are there:

They have hour long hiccough sessions
The are eating more than a pair of starved mother lions
They are super sleepy.
and the older one is Super whiny.

So, great. Growth. [...]
