Eleanor discovered the joys of dandelions that have gone to seed. She huffed and puffed and blew the whole yard with puffy weeds. It was super cute.  My neighbors won’t like us much, but hey, childhood isn’t about pleaseing the neighbors.

My best friend Trish and I have a dream, and the dream is Agra-Tourism.  We want to have a little working farm just outside of a college town here in Georgia.  She wants to grow vegetables and fruits, make jams and can pickles.  I want to host luncheons, conferences and farm events, and run a [...]

My sister Lynn, Trish, Eleanor and I headed down to the sunny beach this afternoon. The weather has been great: warm, but not HOT, and sunny. Slathered in a fresh bottle of SPF 70, which, when applied to the skin, causes a shade tree to pop out of your head, we hunkered down [...]

Saralyn got her little toes in the sand today. Then the crying started. Sand is yucky. Sand sticks to hands. And legs, and bottoms. The journey to the beach happened just after my younger peed her swim pants on the carpet in my parents condo. As far as Saralyn, my [...]

Here’s the star of our his farm – GRANDPA!

He’s a wonderful, kind, smart man.
Here’s the orphan cabbages, all neat and safe in the dirt. [...]

All Hail Kale!

My best friend Trish works the family farm.  It’s a city farm, near downtown Atlanta, but it’s still a country farm.  There’s a tractor and a green house.  There’s an apple tree and rows of veggies.
On Tuesday, she gave me a department store bag full of KALE.  Truth be told, I hadn’t cooked much with [...]

I promise I will blog with pictures tomorrow, but Eleanor said the funniest thing.
I made Kale Chips. I said, “Eleanor, come try these.” And she did.
Then she spit it out and said, “This is yuck.”
I said, “Well, you tried it, and I’m happy.”
Without missing a beat and in all seriousness, she said, “Well, [...]
