(Blogger’s note – this should be dated February 20th, but I didn’t hit publish till I sat down to write this morning! Ooops!)
I got a phone message yesterday from a person whose name was familiar sounding to me, but I couldn’t be sure if I knew her. The number to call her back was from Las Vagas. (Hmmm… I don’t know if I know anyone in Nevada), and she called me by my whole name: Emilie, Maiden name, Last-name.
Hmmmm… I started to wonder who would call looking for me using that name? A bill collector? …I think all my bills are paid. A high school chum?… This is not the year for any kind of reunion. I thought it could stem from a friend of mine who was looking for a job in radio, and this is the person who is checking references. But he wouldn’t have used that full name.
I just don’t know.
It’s these little mysteries that keep me interested in life.
However, when you call someone, and ask them to return a call to you long distance, it’s only polite to BRIEFLY say why you are calling. This will guarantee that your callee will be returning the message, assuming they have good manners as well.
