I got a note from my dad about Mom’s evening:
…when the doctor visited her earlier this evening he said everything went as planned. He found a little bleeding when he was in but fixed that on the spot and all seems well now. Barb is resting well and in spite of all the interruptions by the staff seems to be sleeping a good bit now. Hopefully she can go home tomorrow.
So that was last night:
I’ve just called my dad this morning and he says that Mom already tried to escape once. The nurses said that she would be able to go home today, so Mom got dressed and grabbed her things and started to walk out. The nurses chased her down and told her that she had to “do the paperwork.” So now they are all dresses and ready, but waiting on the doctor with the discharge papers. This could take 5 minutes or three hours.
Dad says that they have taken the dressings off Mom’s neck and that the stitches are open to the air. Mom says it looks horrible. When I talked with Mom, she sounded alert and ready to go. She also said she really, REALLY wanted a milkshake. I recommend Chick fill a.
