Not to bad, all in all.
Ok, yeah, so there were fewer kids than I hoped and the AC didn’t work in two of the classrooms and my own kid had a fever and there were some flubs by the groups leaders, but what would VBS be without a few wrinkles to iron out? The kids seemed to have a great time… The music was nice. The snack was healthy-ish.
I am super glad I got up at 4:30 this morning to get it all rolling. You’d think I would be more sleepy here gaining on midnight, but I catnapped and basically had a bed picnic with each of my girls all afternoon. Haven’t done that in years. I’m feeling good about it.
That’s the thing that reminded me that VBS was not as important as some other things to happen today. My kids were just fascinating to me all day long. I just couldn’t stop watching them and cuddling them, and they me. We just clicked today. It must be some change in me today, becasue they are still doing some STOOPID things, like spilling cups of water in the closet (Eleanor, why did you take your drink upstairs?) and Saralyn showing what a big girl she is by taking off her own poopie diaper (while standing on my bedroom carpet. Eeewww…). Strangely it didn’t matter. They were adorable. Wonder how long this will last – I hope all week, nay all year, nay… forever.
I finished a good book: Enjie Zeng’s A Clamor in Heaven. Fabulously entertaining. It’s available only as an e-book as far as I can tell, which makes it fast, cheap and easy to acquire if you Kindle, and I SO do. Strong characters, good theology and nice worldbuilding.
Yes – mark this one as a day in the win column.
